Drone Orthomosaic Mapping — Accurate Aerial Maps & Survey Data

Precise overhead imagery stitched into georeferenced maps for planning, land management, and site analysis.

About This Service

What you get with Altitude

Orthomosaic mapping uses drone photogrammetry to produce geometrically corrected, scale-accurate aerial maps with embedded coordinate data. The result is a survey-grade overhead image — measurable, exportable, and usable directly in GIS, CAD, and planning applications.

Why it matters

Altitude was founded by a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS) and operates with the rigour of a professional practice. Every job is CAA-authorised, £5m insured, and deliverables land within 48 hours.

What's Included

Centimetre-accurate georeferenced imagery
GIS and CAD compatible exports (GeoTIFF, DXF, SHP)
Digital elevation models (DEM) and contour generation
Large site coverage in a single mobilisation
Volume calculations for stockpiles and earthworks
Repeatable surveys for change detection over time

How it works

From enquiry to delivery

01

Tell us about your project

Fill in a short enquiry — site, service, and timing. We respond personally, usually the same day, with a clear scope and fixed price.

02

We survey your site

CAA-authorised flight with survey-grade equipment, fully managed from mobilisation to pack-down. Most surveys are completed within half a day.

03

Receive your deliverables

Full HD imagery and 4K video, delivered within 48 hours of inspection — ready for your team to use.

FAQs

Common questions

01

What accuracy can you achieve with orthomosaic mapping?

With ground control points, we achieve 2–3 cm horizontal accuracy and 3–5 cm vertical accuracy — suitable for planning submissions, land registry boundary disputes, and construction setting-out.

02

What file formats do you deliver?

We deliver GeoTIFF orthomosaics, digital elevation models, point clouds (.las / .laz), and contour data in DXF or shapefile formats. We agree output requirements with you before the survey.

03

How large a site can you map in one visit?

We can map several hundred hectares in a single day, depending on site complexity and airspace constraints. For very large sites, we plan a multi-day programme.

04

Can orthomosaic maps be used for planning applications?

Yes. Georeferenced aerial maps are accepted by local planning authorities for site location plans, topographic surveys, and landscape context assessments. We can produce outputs formatted to your planning consultant's requirements.

05

Can you calculate volumes from the survey data?

Yes. From the digital elevation model, we can calculate stockpile volumes, cut-and-fill quantities, and earthwork progress — useful for quarry management, civil engineering, and agricultural applications.
